LESSON INFORMATION

Each lesson is unique. We prioritize safety, fun, and take a horse-first approach. Including but not limited to, training, learning how to properly care for a horse, grooming, bonding experiences, analyzing horse behavior, nutrition and riding (if the horse is willing that day). For riders, I specialize in using activities that work different muscle groups, building confidence, and disguising challenging mental work through fun games! Riders must be over the age of 5 years old. All programs must be paid in full at time of booking.

Rates for Lessons

  • Private: $80 for 60min. $110 for 90min
  • Semi-private (you are responsible for booking both parties): 90min $130

Pony Playday!

  • Perfect for those wanting to experience horses for the first time, do not want to commit to buying all of the equipment, enjoy ponies easily with their grandkids for a quick afternoon activity, share bonding time with your friend or family member in a unique environment or celebrate a birthday!
  • Customized rate for the experience you desire. Starting at $80 per hour.

For each lesson, students should:

  • Be wearing pants that are not slippery
  • Be wearing sturdy shoes or boots. Boots with heels are required for riding
  • Have on sunscreen and bug spray/bug net
  • Have long hair in a low pony tail
  • Be wearing gloves (but not mittens), leather reins can hurt little hands
  • Bring a water bottle
  • Helmets are not provided and are only needed if the student intends to ride. See the resources section for more details. Helmets must be both ASTM and SEI approved, less than 5 years old and have not been involved in a prior fall/drop.

Barn Buddies Program

The ponies and I will be sure to send your kids home tired after a morning of mucking stalls, climbing trees, socializing with other students, grooming the ponies, unmounted horse handling, and more. I can't think of a better way to spend a morning then allowing kids to be kids on a farm!

Specifics: Weekends, March-November only. Open to any children ages 5 and up (does not have to be a student taking riding lessons), 4 slots will be open every week (please sign up ahead of time), cost is $40 for the 2 hours. This is for drop off only. Please bring a water bottle, clothes that can get very dirty and a snack. Bug spray, bug net, sturdy boots, hat and sunscreen encouraged!

Please text 716-597-7526 for availability and join our Facebook Group "Alex Blake Equine Instruction at Blake's Pony Farm" for farm updates.

What To Expect

It's About Fun!

Lessons are meant to be fun and enjoyable! If you decide my farm or teaching style are not the best fit, please let me know and I will do my best to make another farm recommendation!

Parent Policy

Parents are welcome to stay and watch lessons or drop their children off. Often times students focus more when parents are not present; however, we want you to do what's best for your family.

Cancellation Policy

If I need to cancel a lesson and a suitable makeup date can’t be agreed upon, a refund or credit will be offered. If a student needs to cancel, 24 hour notice must be given to be offered a makeup date, credit or refund. If 24 hour notice is not given for any reason, a refund, makeup date or credit will not be given.
